It's time to show my body a little love and nourishment and I'm sharing my methods of doing so.
I have been super busy with.. well starting this business, my lovely children, and life! I find myself so busy that I have slipped into some not so beneficial habits like not drinking enough water, eating on the go, eating quick snacks instead of making a full healthy meal, staying up late to get things done after my kids go to sleep.. and so on and so forth we all have our faults. As a result, I have been feeling not so top notch as of late. I have been tired, sore, and lacking vitalism. Remember it takes work to care for your body, there is no cure all or pill to take to help you be healthy. In my opinion true health comes from taking the TIME and EFFORT to eat things in their most natural and unprocessed forms, keeping up with an exercise routine, and working with your spiritual, mental, and emotional systems on a regular basis. You have to actually put in the work to get the results.
First and foremost, I respect my body... many people don't acknowledge what an amazing vessel the human body is and all it does for us. All of our systems interact and speak to each other to create a functioning system. I mean really think of all the things your body does for you, now what do you give it in return?
Secondly, I'm not going to waste my energy on feelings of guilt for falling into old bad habits. This will not help the situation only make put you in a position where you feel like crap and end up falling back into unhealthy habits. Instead use that energy to focus on the improvements you will make, your goals or being active (even if that is just a walk).
Third, a "cleanse"... I used to be really into cleanses and detoxing before I knew our liver does a detox of its own every night, or at least every night that you get enough sleep to let it. Our liver expands from the size of our fist to nipple to nipple and down to our 12th rib and does a detox. This is why I am not huge proponent of extreme "detoxes" & "cleanses", I think it's too much go from eating unhealthy to drinking only juiced produce. I have found that small steps in the right direction are far more effective and way easier to stick with. So my plan is helping my liver out, I first obviously will avoid sugar, incorporate some greens and produce into my daily routine, drink enough water (I drink half my weight in ounces or more), get enough sleep.. I'm going to try my best to have all electronics off after dinner to avoid them interrupting my sleep, and lastly be active.. even just walking pumps your lymphatic system and helps your body. Being active also helps you liver and is a big part of moving fluids in your body to break up stagnation.
Fourth, Quiet time. I know when kids take a nap it is the #1 best time to get things done around the house, but I am going to take that time for myself and here is why. You can't poor from an empty cup! I have found that taking even 10 minutes to pop headphones in with meditation music or healing frequencies, partnered with deep conscious breaths does me miracles. I personally need a moment during the day to connect to my higher power and nourish my spirituality. This helps me balance my emotions, provides me mental clarity, and grounds me. Think of how many times you could put aside 10 minutes or more for this... checking facebook, pinterest, watching a movie after kids are in bed, etc. Your mental, emotional and spirital state alter you physical state (they all affect one another) so it is important to not neglect taking care of yourself in this way.
I will also being incorporating herbs of course! I made a lovely nourishing tea. My choice for my tea was Nettles, dandelion root, oat straw, astragalus, calendula, marshmallow root, and holy basil.
Thank you for reading and have a wonderful day filled with love!
